Rosailia Torrence was the sixth president of Beta Pi Omega Chapter. Her tenure is known to have consisted of two terms during the early 1950’s. Torrence received her undergraduate degree in education from Hampton Institute. She received her Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in English from Chicago University and accomplished some further studies in journalism from Ball State in Indiana. Torrence recalled two goals the chapter set and one project to promote education among blacks. She recalled that Alpha Kappa Alpha members served as captains in the heart-fund drive. Torrence stated that this really was a contribution to the city and that the chapter was recognized for their participation.
